Remembering Charlie

On 21st May 2021 Charlie was so cruelly taken from us at the age of 34. This site has been set up for all who knew him to share their memories, photos, videos, thoughts and comments. We hope this will provide a lasting tribute, especially for Oliver and Phoebe as they grow up. (The good the bad and the ugly please, they need to know everything!!!)

Funeral and donation details will be posted in due course.

For Oli and Phoebe, I thought I would write something about your wonderful father for you to read one day. No doubt you will both recognise elements of your own characters/personalities in what I write and I suppose that is the beauty of it- Charlie's character and legacy lives on in both of you. I met Charlie when I joined Balfours (where he worked) straight out of university. I had never been to Shropshire before I got the job with Balfours and I didn't know anyone there- in an instant Charlie made me feel welcome and at home in my new 'Balfours family'. He had an amazing ability to make everyone he met from all walks of life feel totally at ease immediately. He always found something in common with everyone he met and was able to skip 'small talk' and make a real connection immediately. He had a rare mixture of hilarious wit and sarcasm paired with a thoughtful side- always able to really listen and remember details about your conversations. I would regularly have totally uncontrollable giggles listening to the banter across the office- usually when I was on the phone trying to have a serious conversation! Charlie was much loved in the office- a person everyone felt they could speak to and always had the ability to brighten your day. I know for me personally he made me feel so welcome and such a part of the team there. He loved his family and was always talking about you Hannah and Oli (who was only a baby when I left Balfours). He was such a kind and bright soul- he brought joy to so many people and I'm sure you will continue to do this throughout your lives. I am so sorry to hear this news, my thoughts are with you all. Sending so much love and remembering Charlie with such fondness and joy- I hope how he would wish to be remembered. All my love, Charlie Wilson
